Under Sea, Over Stone
Take a breather from the chaos of modern life and reconnect with nature. Here’s what we’re all about:

-
Wellbeing, the natural way: More than just a walk in the bush, our hikes are a chance to reset. Carefully planned to ease stress and boost your mental and physical health, they’re all about helping you feel good - inside and out.
-
A real connection with nature: This isn’t your average stroll. We’ll take you off the beaten track to explore the bush in a way that’s raw, real, and inspiring. It’s about rewilding your spirit while respecting and protecting the environment.
-
Your journey, Your way: We get that everyone’s different. Whether you’re here to relax, recharge, or reconnect, we aim to make your experience personal and meaningful, leaving you with memories that stick long after the hike is done.

REFRESH. RECONNECT. REWILD.

Let the Aussie bush show you what you’ve been missing.
Our Story
Richard Bennett, founder of Under Sea, Over Stone, created this nature-based initiative to help him overcome his own struggles with burnout, and balance the demands of a corporate career in digital.
After decades working for some of the biggest businesses in the world, when the pandemic hit Richard found himself working from home managing a team in another country, and feeling very much disconnected.
And so he went bush, and got back to nature. After a series of day and multi-day hikes, Richard decided that the best way to find respite from the rigours of the business world was to offer an alternative - to get out of the boardroom and into the bush, and simply 'look up'.
Richard's newfound connection with nature led him to establish Under Sea, Over Stone - an experiential initiative dedicated to sharing the joy and knowledge he found in the great outdoors. As an avid bushwalker, Richard now offers not just guided hikes, but the chance to immerse yourself in the tranquility of a forest, or an exhilarating hiking adventure.
With Under Sea, Over Stone, Richard invites you to join him on a journey that transcends the digital realm, offering the perfect itinerary for those seeking to reconnect with nature and rediscover the beauty of the Australian landscape.

Richard is currently studying shinrin-yoku / forest bathing, and is qualified in remote first aid (HLTAID013 - Provide First Aid in remote or isolated site). Richard is currently a member of the Sydney branch of the National Park Association of NSW and sits on their membership and activities committees.
